Each spring the Clothes Less Traveled is able to provide multiple college scholarships with a maximum one-time value up to $5,000. to graduating high school seniors from public, private or home schools within the local area. This program is another win-win situation at Clothes Less Traveled! Outstanding local students with a commitment to community service are able to receive well-deserved financial assistance for their college education. Through the Scholarship Program students have an added incentive to "give back" to their community and in doing so, many begin a life-long appreciation of what it means to be a volunteer while Clothes Less Traveled gains excellent student volunteer help each year.
Applicants to the CLT Scholarship program are excellent students and must have completed a minimum number of volunteer service hours to Clothes Less Traveled as well as demonstrated a commitment to community service. Applications and information on the program are available on the Clothes Less Traveled website and at area high schools during the fall and winter of each year. The application process involves completing the application form along with submission of an official transcript, an SAT or ACT report, a letter of recommendation and also the completion of an essay. Applications along with the required attachments are due during April. Scholarships are awarded mainly based on academic merit with some consideration of financial need demonstrated through the essay. Selection is completed by a scholarship review committee in April and scholarships are awarded by a Clothes Less Traveled representative at the scholar's high school awards banquet in May.
We thank our Clothes Less Traveled volunteers for the making possible these financial awards, and thus the many opportunities of a college education afforded to students by the Scholarship Program at CLT. Thank you, volunteers!
